Thomas Tuchel signs new contract to remain England manager until 2028

Thomas Tuchel has committed his future to the England national team by agreeing a new contract that will keep him in charge until 2028.

The German tactician, who took over as England manager in early 2025 following Gareth Southgate’s departure, has extended his initial deal beyond the 2026 World Cup cycle.
The new agreement reflects growing confidence from the Football Association in Tuchel’s vision and results, particularly after strong performances in recent qualifiers and friendlies.

Tuchel’s tenure has been marked by tactical discipline, youth integration, and a renewed sense of purpose within the squad. Sources close to the negotiations describe the extension as a mutual decision, with both parties keen to build long-term stability ahead of the 2026 World Cup in North America and future tournaments.

The FA is expected to make an official announcement shortly, confirming the terms and Tuchel’s continued leadership through at least Euro 2028, which England is co-hosting alongside other UK nations.

Fans and pundits have welcomed the news, viewing it as a sign of continuity and ambition for the Three Lions as they aim to end decades without major silverware.
